Tommy Gun’s debut single “Hopeless Stranger” is an infectious retro anthem.

A five-piece band from Sydney, Australia, Tommy Gun’s music embodies a free spirited and adventurous energy tinged with nostalgia. Their debut EP, Afterlife, was produced in just 3 days- and this sense of spontaneous creation reverberates through the album, and especially through the vibrant single. “Hopeless Stranger”.

This single has all the momentum and catchiness of an indie rock anthem, while simultaneously giving us a fresh take on a classic sound. Rhythmic guitar and percussion permeate throughout the track as vocals build and layer smoothly, creating an atmospheric and dreamy effect.

The chorus features the hook “I’m a hopeless stranger,” which ties the story together: our narrator is living in a vibrant world of their own, one the outside world doesn’t seem to match. The narrator sings “I’ve got disco fever, guess it’s not contagious” and struggles to find a place to belong, remaining a stranger forever.

“Hopeless Stranger” is a strong debut from Tommy Gun, featuring catchy melodies and ambient nostalgia perfect for your summer playlist.
