Artist Alert: Silver Wilson

Feel Good Tropical Indie Pop

Chalkpit records - silver wilsom

This week we’re back up North with the boys from Silver Wilson, who’ve been creating a whole load of good noise, since they started back in 2016. They’re organic indie at its finest, with bouncy melodies and an originality that nails the feel-good niche. Any band that has the magic to transport you right back to long summery days is on to a winning recipe.

‘Close Enough’ is their latest tropical indie single with a diplo-esque influence that is just oh so catchy. In short, it’s a full indie-pop explosion, bursting at its seams and dragging you onto the dancefloor, capturing the essence of the band’s energy. ‘Close Enough’ also comes with a trio of remixes, that pull on the band’s electronic sentiments and reinstate the track as the hailing banger it is.

They’ve played YNOT and Dot to Dot festival, and with tunes that are begging to be played on the festival cycle we’re sure there’s plenty more slots heading their way

Can you tell us who you are, where your from, and a little bit about the music you make?

We are Silver Wilson, originally from Nottingham but moved to Leeds to study and spread our musical reach. We formed in 2016 and create music with influence from a variety of genres. We aim to make music that can be listened to at any time in any place to induce a good time!

Why did you decide to start a band together?

We wanted to take our musical passion and drive it towards something we were all interested in – We found common influences and simply made music to have a good time. When people started taking an interest and enjoying the product of our efforts, we started to take the music and the band itself more seriously.

Who are your biggest influences?

Our influences vary from the likes on Vampire Weekend to people such as Bombay Bicycle Club and even people like Diplo.

What has been you biggest highlight of this year as a band?

It hasn’t happened yet but were sure our highlight will be Headlining Oporto in Leeds on October 21st! Its set to be an incredible night and we’re pumped to be playing with some of our favourite fellow musicians

What do yo think of the music scene in Leeds?

The music scene in Leeds is great. With such a strong arts presence in Leeds and with the College of music constantly providing fresh new artists onto the scene there is always someone worth looking out for or going to hear live.

Have you got any exciting plans you can tell us about going into 2019?

We’re sure there’s going to be lots of exciting new music for you to feast your ears upon.
