Grab a cuppa because Chalkpit are back with their weekly Hottest Hits

Grab a cuppa because Chalkpit are back with their weekly Hottest Hits and we’ve picked out the top tracks that we know you’re going to love (we’re good like that). This week hitting the top spots are Kalpa, Victors, VALERAS, Blushes and Ivory Wave.

Topping our playlist this week is Kalpa, who for relative newcomers, have crafted a distinctly organic sound that is already very much their own. Their latest single and Hottest Hits feature ‘What Will It Take?’ hones in on an energy that has been rising within their two other releases. Honestly, this track speaks for itself, and these guys get five stars for top-class catchy tunes. If you’re feeling this one, go check out their funk-fused track ‘B-Side’ and get some Kalpa in your life.

Victors tune ‘Tonight’ is next on our playlist. The Leeds based lads have been making music since 2016, twinning 80’s synth pop with a mixture of indie rock and electronica. We get serious The 1975 vibes from these guys, which can only be a good thing considering The 1975 have just dropped one of 2018’s top albums.

Next up on this week’s playlist is ‘Intentions’ by Reading-based five-piece VALERAS. These guys have smashed 2018, recording stellar tracks with Larry Hibbitt (Sundara Karma), and touring with Yonaka and The Amazons, to name but a few. ‘Intentions’ is their newest offering and VALERAS keep their foot heavy on the peddle for this one. The high-energy chorus characteristic of the impact VALERAS is gearing up to make in the new year.

Here at Chalkpit, we’ve been big fans of Blushes for a while now and their tune ‘To The Bone’ is the perfect example of why. They’ve been likened to indie-rock mega babes Foals by NME and we’re not about to disagree. ‘To The Bone’ really needs no introductions, it’s just an all our banger.

5.)Ivory Wave

Brummie boys Ivory Waves have been conjuring up an organic fusion of acid house influenced indie tunes since mid-2016. In this time, they’ve toured with The Twang and played alongside bands like Superfood and Twisted Wheel. This week we’ve been putting their recent release ‘Frankie’ on repeat. Kasabian fans eat your heart out because these guys are the real deal.
