Feel old yet? You might be “MID-TWENTIES’N’MAD (oh my god)” like Gentle Organism’s newest track.

Nashville-based Gentle Organism are here to make you feel old – “oh my god!”. Capturing the confusion of spending your mid-twenties in the midst of a pandemic and a frankly baffling political reality, Gentle Organism’s latest track, “MID-TWENTIES’N’MAD (oh my god)”, puts a humorously-reflective spin on the anxieties of a generation. Saturated in the fuzzy-guitar sounds of our childhood – think Green Day and Smashing Pumpkins – it is both a nostalgia trip and a moment of awakening.

Reminiscent of grungy 90s rock and the emotiveness of pop-punk, “MID-TWENTIES’N’MAD (oh my god)” is the song for all those bewildered and darkly-humoured.  The infectious guitar riff that drives the track will have you incessantly tapping your foot to the beat, all the while singing along to the simple, sun-bright chorus of a repeated exclamation – “oh my god”. This track toys with its listener, intermediately gathering energy before scaling it down, only to come back at you with an even greater force and dynamism as the rousing bridge propels us to the most explosive rendition of the chorus yet.

Grungy, tongue-in-cheek and so relatable that it might as well be a personal attack, “MID-TWENTIES’N’MAD (oh my god)” is a song of a baffled, yet sprightly generation.
